Anvisa strengthens ties with Japan and South Korea

Strengthening dialogue with Asian regulatory agencies will facilitate the access of the Brazilian population to safe and effective medicines and medical devices.

Anvisa participates this week in meetings with the regulatory agencies of Japan and South Korea. The main purpose of the meetings, which take place in the Japanese capital Tokyo, is to strengthen the regulatory dialogue with the agencies of the two Asian countries and consolidate future partnerships.
The mission of the Agency is working to advance the coordination of activities that favor the access of the Brazilian population to safe and effective medicines and medical devices. In addition, promoting the quality of national regulation should contribute to the export of Brazilian products and the attraction of foreign investments in Brazil.
The Brazilian delegation is attended by the Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of Exports and Investments (Apex Brasil) and industry associations.
The week's extensive agenda of appointments includes exclusive meetings of governments and private sectors of medicines and medical devices, as well as a bilateral meeting between Anvisa and the Japanese agencies responsible for risk assessment and the establishment of maximum pesticide residue limits in food.
The mission is being conducted by Anvisa's Director of Registries and Authorizations, Alessandra Bastos Soares, with the participation of the deputy director-president, Patricia Lamarão. Also part of the delegation are the Health Products and International Cooperation areas of the Agency.
